What happens if my Lukla flight is delayed or cancelled?

Flights to and from Lukla (Tenzing–Hillary Airport) fly only in good visibility, so delays and cancellations are common, especially in the monsoon and early mornings in spring. In peak season, many Lukla flights operate from Manthali (Ramechhap), a 4–5 hour drive from Kathmandu.

If your flight is cancelled:

• Your guide will rebook you on the next available flight — usually the next morning.
• Extra hotel nights and meals caused by delays are normally not included in the tour price.
• When delays run for several days, a shared or private helicopter may be offered at extra cost (sometimes claimable from travel insurance).

This is why we strongly recommend adding 1–2 buffer days before your international flight home.
