Calculate exact trekking permit costs for Everest Base Camp, Annapurna, Langtang and 10+ Nepal treks. Official 2025 fees in NPR and USD.

Almost all trekking areas in Nepal require at least two types of permits: a TIMS Card (Trekkers' Information Management System) and an entry permit for the national park or conservation area you are entering. Some restricted areas require additional special permits that must be arranged through a registered trekking agency.
The TIMS Card is mandatory for almost all trekking routes. It is issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN). Individual trekkers pay NPR 2,000 (non-SAARC) or NPR 1,000 (SAARC nationals). A Green TIMS is for individual trekkers and a Blue TIMS is for trekkers with an agency.
| Trek | Permits Required | Non-SAARC (NPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Everest Base Camp | Sagarmatha NP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Annapurna Base Camp | ACAP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Annapurna Circuit | ACAP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Langtang Valley | Langtang NP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Mardi Himal | ACAP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Gokyo Lakes | Sagarmatha NP + TIMS | NPR 5,000 |
| Manaslu Circuit | MCAP + Restricted Area + TIMS | NPR 3,000 + USD 70/week |
| Upper Mustang | ACAP + Restricted Area + TIMS | NPR 3,000 + USD 500/10 days |
TIMS Cards and national park/conservation area permits are issued at the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu (Bhrikuti Mandap), the NTB office in Pokhara, or at the trek's entry checkpoint. For restricted area permits (Manaslu, Upper Mustang, Dolpo), you must apply through a registered trekking agency and cannot obtain them independently.
Do children need trek permits?
Children under 10 are typically exempt from national park entry fees but still require TIMS Cards.
Can I buy permits online?
As of 2025, permits must be obtained in person in Nepal. Online pre-registration is available for some parks but payment and collection is done in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
What happens if I trek without a permit?
Checkpoints on all major routes verify permits. Trekking without one results in a fine and possible deportation. Ensure you carry originals, not photocopies.
